Our Story
It began with a simple request, “God, show us Your heart.” He did. Then He placed His heart within us and led us to them, the people who might not ever step foot onto church property, the individuals He longs to redeem, the families He longs to restore, and the communities He longs to rebuild. And so a movement began to serve the children and families in and around Kona, Hawaii through Kona Kids Outreach (KKO), a movement to bridge the gap.

Our Vision.
For every person to know God, understand their value, discover and develop their gifts, and grow more hopeful for the future.
Our Mission.
To teach individual value through Biblical truths and relationships, providing opportunities to reach potential and contribute to the community.
Our Heart.
Students and families from a variety of cultural backgrounds considered at risk, disadvantaged, or marginalized due to a variety of circumstances that hinder their hope for a bright future.
Our Team.
Folks from local churches, YWAM teams, and other organizations. Together we are better. Together we go outside church walls to bring hope-Jesus, to those who feel forgotten and need to know they are valued and loved.
Bridging the Gap.
THE CONDITION
Sadly, a gap exists between the church and the community. Each week we encounter students in neighborhoods and on school campuses who don’t know they were created by God with value and purpose, that there is truth that brings freedom, and that Jesus loves them. The reality is, If we only focus on church campus programming and foreign missions for evangelism, a huge gap remains within the few miles surrounding churches.
OUR RESPONSE
At KKO, we are taking an approach modeled by Jesus-meeting individuals where they are, building relationships by caring, and trying to walk a day, over and over again, in their shoes and on their home turf. Not just hearing about their struggles, but also seeing and experiencing what life looks like for them, has allowed us to build deeper relationships that foster trust, which then allows us to share truth and see transformation.
OUR REFLECTIONS
Since incorporating Kona Kids Outreach in 2018, much has changed. Without the prayers and support of many, and more importantly, the heart of God guiding it all, none of this would be possible.
We’re looking ahead with great anticipation as God leads us to people He longs to redeem, families He wants to restore, and communities He desires to rebuild. Together we are working to “Bridge the Gap.”
